CPG Soft Uruguay provides great scalability, robustness and flexibility to CCU Chile
Chile’s largest beer brewing company was in need of software adequate for its exponential growth and found it in CPG’s S&D Premium, developed with GeneXus.
The brewing company CCU (Compañía Cerveceras Unidas SA) hired CPG Soft to implement its sales and distribution system developed with GeneXus: CPG S&D Premium is a new tool that has been benefiting its 20 distribution centers throughout Chile, with coverage of 100% of the company’s over 1,000 routes and 120,000 clients.
From the start, CCU has been putting together what today is the greatest distribution chain in Chile. Its leadership in the Chilean beer market has the backup of thee quality level of brands such as Cristal, Escudo, and Heineken Royal, among other products. It is also guaranteed by its renowned customer service level. In the past decade, these assets -in addition to permanent innovation process- have allowed CCU to add to its regular activity, new production and marketing activities that have made it one of the main players at the domestic level in Chile, in categories like wine, water, Chilean “pisco” (grappa) and rum, as well as functional beverages, syrups and food in general.
In order to be in line and carry on with such outstanding growth in new lines of products, the related sales and distribution processes at CCU were subject to a new software, including functionalities and technology ideally adapted to the current business , while ensuring robustness and flexibility, both virtues necessary to continue growth in the company.
The final choice of software was CPG S&D Premium, a transactional system for sales and distribution that, as CCU’s Computer Systems Manager Mario Fernández Álvarez explained, is a solution that implies a vast functional coverage which, upon a full web technological development, fulfils all requirements at CCU, current and future, for all its business units.
In addition, CCU obtained the license, from CPG Soft, for the GeneXus Knowledge Base of CPG S&D Premium, and hired from SONDA (GeneXus distributor in Chile) the technology and training in it, for development and support of proprietary modules that interact with CPG S&D Premium.
Features of the solution
GeneXus development methodology, implemented through WEB Services in the architecture of CPG S&D, allows definition of various knowledge layers within a product, so that the manufacturer - CPG Soft, in this case – develops, updates, releases and provides support to new standard versions of its Core System (or Kernel); while the client – CCU, in this case -, develops on its own the implementation knowledge base, that includes the proprietary developments, interfaces, reports, and system customizations in general.
Further to the functionality offered, CPG Soft showed to CCU the scalability of its product, through simulation tools and Stress Test processes, which guaranteed S&D Premium’s satisfactory performance to process, in 8 hours, over 50,000 orders from 1,100 pre-sales people at 20 different warehouses, including concurrent processes for inputting orders, assigning stock, loading and routing trucks, invoicing, check out, check in, settlement and cashier.
Given this situation, the Artech team continues with its permanent commitment towards clients, and in this case also towards its strategy ally CPG Soft, by supporting every project with research and human resources, as well as with its participation in the efforts for optimizing its tool in benefit of all the parties involved.
