About Holistor

Holistor is an Argentine company that has been developing high-quality software for accounting firms and SMEs since 1989. Its mission is to create software products and services focused on customer satisfaction. One of the technologies Holistor has used since 2000 is GeneXus together with GeneXus Server. In recent years, we added continuous deployment with Jenkins as part of the development ecosystem.
 

The Challenge

Holistor identified that organizations typically handle their employee performance evaluation process through manually managed Excel spreadsheets. This approach brings several problems:
 

• There is no traceability of the evaluation process.
• There is no role-based access control: anyone with the spreadsheet can view or modify sensitive information.
• There is no way to track the historical progress of improvement plans from one evaluation period to the next.
• Consolidating results requires a high level of manual effort.

The Solution

To address this problem, Holistor conducted a Proof of Concept (POC), developing a web-based Performance Evaluation system that digitalizes the employee competency evaluation process. The system includes:
 

• A competency-based evaluation form, with ratings and feedback for each employee.
• Tracking of the previous period's improvement plan, using a calculation formula and a completion check - something that was previously impossible to trace with standalone spreadsheets.
• A 3-role security model (Administrator, Evaluator, and Evaluated), with an N:M assignment between evaluators and evaluatees, allowing one evaluator to be in charge of multiple employees and vice versa.
• An indicators dashboard, with KPIs and charts showing ratings, evaluation status, rankings, and performance by competency. The panel displays, for example, the total number of evaluations completed, how many are finished and how many are in draft, the overall average rating, the evolution of results by semester, the average by area (Administration, Human Capital, Commercial, and Software Development), and a radar chart with the average by competency (teamwork, commitment, productivity, customer orientation, among others).
• Excel export of each individual evaluation, following Holistor's institutional format (form + feedback).
• Documentation center, with a full CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) for manuals and a reference gallery available to all system users.
• Deployment on Azure, so the system could be used in a real production environment.

Challenges During Adoption

The adoption process involved, as with any new technology, a period of ongoing testing and adjustment. According to Holistor's own team, two elements were key to making that process work:
 

• The governance that GeneXus for Agents provides over the changes proposed by the agent.
• The suggested plan mode, which allows users to review what the agent proposes before applying it.
