Using the Advanced Query selection

How do we get the most out of the new functionalities of GXplorer 6.0 and GXquery 3.0? How do we use the Advanced Query selection when working with these two tools?

The GXtips tool continues to advance, with clear and practical advice that simplifies tasks when working. On this occasion, Luciano Silveira, a member of the Artech Support Team, explains how to use the Advanced Query selection when working with GXplorer 6.0 and GXquery 3.0.

One of the new functionalities included in these versions is the possibility to add complex filters to the query specification. That is, in defining filters, it is possible to specify that the values for those filters will be obtained from the result of one or several sub-queries.

Quite often, it is necessary to combine several data constraints into a single definition in order to resolve certain type of queries. For this reason, the user may add the Queries option upon defining a filter, allowing him/her to describe one or several queries that restrict the selected element, which we will call sub-queries.

In this case, for example, we are interested in working with a specific subgroup of Brands - only those traded after a given date. That is, query specification implies restricting the Brand values with a sub-query that extracts the brands traded after a given date. It can be said that there are two queries that need to be related.

With the initial query, restriction could be achieved with an advanced selection of values relating the Brands with sales performed. For more information about how to use the advanced query selection, please click here.
