Students from VILNIUS TECH in Lithuania learned to use GeneXus

The GeneXus workshop was delivered by Martha Giménez, a professor at the University of Montevideo (Uruguay), through the Erasmus+ program.

The city of Vilnius (Lithuania) hosted an academic exchange at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH), where students from the database design course learned to develop applications with GeneXus.

The activity, held from March 16 to 20, 2026, was led by Computer Engineer Martha Giménez, a professor at the Universidad de Montevideo (UM), who traveled to Lithuania through Erasmus+, a European Union program that enables students, educators, and young people to participate in exchanges, internships, volunteering, and studies abroad, fostering skills, employability, and international cooperation.

“It was a great opportunity to showcase and promote the power of GeneXus in Eastern Europe. I focused on teaching how GeneXus automatically generates databases, and we went deeper into its core objects, such as Transactions, Reports, PDF Reports, Web Panels, and Queries. It was rewarding to see that, from the very first day, students were already building their own application,” Giménez explained.

Jelena Mamčenko, from the Information Technology Department at VILNIUS TECH, highlighted the value of the visit and the impact of this technology in their academic environment:  “We truly appreciated the opportunity to learn about GeneXus and its ability to automate code and database generation. It was particularly interesting to see how widely this technology is used in advanced countries such as Japan.”

Mamčenko emphasized that the opportunity to interact directly with an expert from the University of Montevideo was key to the students’ professional growth: “Being able to ask questions and hear her perspective was very beneficial. Thank you for giving us an inspiring look at such an impressive technology as GeneXus.”
