GeneXus Introduces ‘GeneXus for Agents’

GeneXus for Agents is the solution that enables Artificial Intelligence Agents to interact in a controlled and contextualized way with GeneXus Knowledge Bases.

GeneXus, the world’s first Native Agentic Software Development Platform, takes a step forward with the beta release of GeneXus for Agents, a set of skills (GeneXus Skills) that allow LLMs to understand the GeneXus language and ecosystem.

This component, part of the GeneXus Next 2026.01 upgrade, exposes GeneXus as an MCP Server, enabling any Agent to interact with the Platform through a standard interface. In this way, GeneXus developers can use coding agents such as Globant CODA (the recommended option for security and governance), OpenAI Codex, or Claude Code, among others, to create and modify objects in the Knowledge Base, as well as integrate developments with other technologies - all without relying on the IDE and while maintaining all the advantages of GeneXus’s deterministic generation engine.

GeneXus for Agents is available at no additional cost for all customers who are up to date with maintenance and use GeneXus Next and/or GeneXus 18. Those working with earlier versions such as GeneXus 15, GeneXus 16, or GeneXus 17 who want to take advantage of this new capability will need to migrate to GeneXus 18.

“This solution represents the next step in opening GeneXus toward an agentic SDLC. Our goal is to enable our customers to fully leverage new AI technologies and development strategies, combining them with the power of GeneXus. We believe this line of work will have a significant impact on the productivity of all our users,” explains Gustavo Carriquiry, COO of GeneXus.

In a context where coding agents and language models (LLMs) are generating great interest - but also uncertainty - GeneXus for Agents gives organizations the ability to develop, maintain, and evolve mission-critical systems by leveraging new ways of working with coding agents, while retaining the security and predictability provided by GeneXus’s deterministic generation, which helps reduce generation costs while enabling systematic and secure evolution of enterprise systems.

GeneXus for Agents at a Glance

GeneXus for Agents integrates GeneXus with the way the industry already works today:

  • Git as the source of truth for versioning, branching, pull requests, and code review
  • Any compatible LLM or agent as a copilot, with no lock-in to a single provider
  • MCP as the interoperability protocol to connect agents with GeneXus capabilities
  • Standard CI/CD to automate build, validation, and deployment from pipelines

All documentation for GeneXus for Agents is already available on the GeneXus wiki.
