To print the reports in text mode in dot matrix printers and for the characters with accent to be correctly printed, it is necessary to configure the ‘dip switches’, for example: in an EPSON FX1050 printer:
The ’switches’ SW 1-6 1-7 1-8 must be off (‘Spanish’ mode)
The ‘switch’ SW 1-3 must be on (‘Graphic characters’)
If these four ‘switches’ are not correctly configured, strange characters are printed, instead of the vowels with accent of the Spanish.
To verify that these ‘switches’ are correctly configured a new file text can be configured (with edit for example) with characters with accent and then print it (for example: copy file.txt prn).
If it is correctly printed, then the ‘switches’ are correctly configured. If not, they must be verified and the printer’s corresponding manual must be consulted.
