Making decisions

SanCor, one of the greatest dairy product manufacturing companies, needed solutions for its growing needs, and its migration to GXplorer 6.0 was the ideal solution done in record time.

SanCor Cooperativas Unidas, founded in 1938, is one of the largest dairy product manufacturers in Latin America. With fifteen industrial plants in Argentina, subsidiaries in Brazil and the United States, with a production capacity of 6,000,000 liters of milk a day, the migration to GXplorer 6.0 undoubtedly strengthened this position by making information management the key.

In 2001, with the support of Acción Point (Argentina) and W5 (Brazil), a Datawarehouse was developed which answered practically all the company’s concerns; using GXplorer 4.0 to exploit the Datawarehouse information from a farm of 12 servers with Terminal Services. However, in view of its growing needs, SanCor decided to migrate their system to GXplorer 6.0.

Thanks to Acción Point’s intervention, the company contacted Artech’s B1 Development and Support Team at the XVII GeneXus International Meeting held in Montevideo. At that time, a joint work process was outlined, in which, in an environment created for test performance, the work carried out by Artech in the new GXplorer version were tested from SanCor. After a tuning of the metadata, and with the launching of GXplorer 6.0’s Upgrade #1, the migration toward the new version was planned, reorganizing the location of the metadatas. The optimizations achieved in GXplorer 6.0 were, thus, better suited to SanCor’s needs, preparing the way for continuous growth.

The process only took three months, from October to December of 2007. Currently, everything is working correctly and operation continues on the same technological platform, in a single SQL server and various exploitation servers.

Santiago L. Chamorro, SanCor’s System Development Manager, assured that “the magnitude of SanCor’s Datawarehouse, with more than 300 million records, 100 dimensions, 450 measures and 3,000 recorded queries, needed the GXplorer 6.0 version for the 400 users who access this solution to have new functionalities for the exploitation of the information”.
