The Technology Behind RedTickets

Organizing large-scale events requires the right multi-platform technology to handle logistics, including registration mechanisms and ticket distribution for both web and mobile platforms. RedTickets successfully achieved this with the support of Simplifica Software and GeneXus.

RedTickets is a venture by Shift Marketing Digital, focused on selling tickets for concerts, shows, conferences, and private events. It allows event organizers to create and manage their own events easily and directly through Social Ticketing.

The online platform redtickets.uy showcases all available events organized by categories, ranging from music and sports to business and children's events, displayed in chronological order.

Development began in 2015, when the project received support from Uruguay’s National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) as an Innovation Project. It officially launched in mid-2016, debuting with a concert by the legendary Uruguayan rock band Buitres at Montevideo Music Box. In just a few months, the platform had already processed over 20,000 tickets for various events, including MoWeek, CasaDeco, and The Warehouse.

However, RedTickets is much more than just an online platform for buying and selling event tickets. “RedTickets stands out for its ease of event self-management. Any organizer can publish their event and start selling tickets within minutes—whether paid or free, public or private,” says Sebastián Pérez, Director of Shift. The main focus is on providing a simple, self-managed solution for event promotion, sales, and administration.

RedTickets was developed by Simplifica Software, entirely using GeneXus technology, enhanced by Ignia Framework. By leveraging GeneXus' responsive web design capabilities, the platform automatically adapts to any device, whether a mobile phone, tablet, or desktop.

This successful Uruguayan startup, originally designed as a self-managed local event network, is now preparing for regional expansion and will soon be available in Argentina, Ecuador, Chile, Paraguay, and Peru.
