The 8 most important announcements from the launch of GeneXus Next
A new cross-platform and agentic IDE, the Agent Object, interoperability between Agents and Assistants, a native chat interface, and the unique combination of Deterministic and Generative AI stand out among the main features of the first version of GeneXus Next.
During the online event “Introducing GeneXus Next,” GeneXus globally launched GeneXus Next, the first Native Agentic Low-Code Platform. It is designed to facilitate the safe use of Generative AI in enterprise systems, integrating strict data security controls through its synergy with Globant Enterprise AI. This architecture allows organizations to innovate quickly while maintaining full control over their digital assets - a crucial combination for competitiveness and C-Level trust.
The roundtable-format event featured Nicolás Jodal (CEO of GeneXus), Gisela Bertelli (CBO of GeneXus), Gastón Milano (CTO of Globant Enterprise AI), Gustavo “Guscarr” Carriquiry (COO and Product Manager at GeneXus), and Federico Azzato (Tech Director at GeneXus), who shared GeneXus' disruptive vision for tackling enterprise software challenges in this new AI-driven era.
GeneXus Next debuts with capabilities that blend various types of Artificial Intelligence, including GeneXus’ Symbolic and Deterministic AI for enterprise system creation and multi-vendor Generative AI. This combination is truly unique - no other global provider offers it within a single platform. Only Globant and GeneXus can deliver this value thanks to over 35 years of AI research.
“With GeneXus Next, we’re fulfilling our most sophisticated promise - to be Future Proof. What we aim for is enabling the GeneXus Community to help companies adopt AI faster than the rest. That’s the great challenge of our time. And this is our answer,” added Jodal.
Key Announcements:
1. From Low-Code to Native Agentic Low-Code
The new edition of GeneXus positions itself as an Agentic Low-Code Platform. In this software development approach, AI - in the form of Agents and Assistants - is natively integrated into both the platform and the solutions built with it. Rather than adding AI as an afterthought, GeneXus Next allows developers to build agentic systems from the start, resulting in systems that can learn, collaborate with humans, and autonomously execute tasks.2. Part of the Globant Enterprise AI Ecosystem
GeneXus Next is a strategic pillar within the Globant Enterprise AI portfolio. The platform functions as a runtime that enables the integration of Intelligent Agents, secure connections with multiple LLMs, model-switching without reprogramming, and ensures scalability and governance (including traceability, model and agent cost control, and data security) for mission-critical enterprise environments.3. New Cross-Platform and Agentic IDE
The new edition includes a 64-bit development environment (IDE) available on Windows, Mac, and Linux - optimized for collaboration and development assisted by intelligent agents.4. Nexa, a Full-Time Software Architect
Within the IDE, the “Nexa” assistant orchestrates a set of Agents that support developers using natural language. It helps understand user intent, model data and software, create objects, transactions, agents, business rules, designs, and boost developer productivity in multiple ways.5. Agent Object: Declarative and Secure Generative AI
It is now possible to define native intelligent Agents in applications using just a few declarative lines. Developers describe in natural language what the Agent should do, integrating Generative AI, data access, and external APIs - without compromising control or security - all natively connected to Globant Enterprise AI for agent oversight.6. Agent and Assistant Interoperability
In a multi-agent world, systems must interoperate with other Agents. GeneXus Next enables both AI Assistants and AI Agents to collaborate and communicate seamlessly within the same platform - and, when needed, integrate with other systems or external tools. As a result, companies can leverage various levels of intelligent automation, connecting manual tasks with autonomous or robotic processes within one ecosystem, ready to evolve as business needs change.7. Native Conversational Chat UI
The new chat interface (ChatKit), available for creating new conversational systems, simplifies natural language interaction with created Agents and Assistants.8. Immediate Availability for the GeneXus Community
GeneXus Next is now available to GeneXus users with active maintenance. At the link below, you’ll find everything you need to try GeneXus Next - whether you're a current user or not.About GeneXus Next
GeneXus Next is the world’s only software development platform that combines deterministic generation, Generative AI, knowledge modeling, multi-model integration, security, governance, and native agenticity into a single, future-proof solution. It was built from the ground up to be agentic - both in how it is developed and in the solutions it produces. As such, it can integrate intelligent Agents throughout the entire application lifecycle.
Its agentic architecture is built on top of Globant Enterprise AI.
It supports Windows, Mac, and Linux, enabling agile team collaboration and removing technical barriers - all within a controlled governance environment.
