Some days ago Tenfieldigital.com was put on the air. It is the second portal that was developed inside GIVS (Genexus Internet Virtual Space).
It is a portal that was developed by Centro Mac Digital firm, a member of GeneXus Alliance, with the great support of GIVS and IBM's hosting.
From the beginning, this portal implies very interesting challenges such as the automatic combination of graphical effects without any restrictions (Flash movies, photographs, goals' videos), with the development of applications in GeneXus. The combination has been widely and flexibly achieved and that will successively allow giving the portal sophisticated multimedia effects, a wide flexibility and a great speed.
The initial version that has been released and that means a great success in terms of access, will certainly evolution a lot in the future and will cover many more aspects than today (for a best illustration I suggest reading the interviews, which appear in this same section, to Mr. Matías Cuelho and Susana Blanco of Tenfield and Centro Mac Digital respectively).
But, when analyzing this case in general the old quarrel between 'static pages' and 'dynamic pages' comes up: once again the question between flexibility and efficiency. The needs of a portal like this one, with a great quantity of accesses, has inspired us to implement a new type of object: “Smart Static Panels” that solves the problem maximizing the flexibility as well as the efficiency, although it might seem impossible. The last verifications are being carried out in order to release this object, and in the next days it will allow this portal to increase its speed substantially.
