CP 2.0: Product Quality Management
New projects keep being added to the Collaborative Projects contest. Today we introduce the GeneXus X extension that will make it possible to monitor and assess the quality of all objects.

-What is Product Quality Management about?
Quality Management is an extension that will make it possible to control and assess the quality of each object.
The objective is to generate an environment that enables the developer not to skip any of the standards set by each company, and at the same time provide the tester with a control and audit tool.
For each object, the system enables the definition of quality assurance items grouped in categories. In turn, these categories make it possible to appoint people in charge of testing (interface, code standards, and so on).
It will provide the ability to search for objects to test and a test history for each object. And quality assurance reports to compare with contractor companies.
- Why did you come up with this idea?
Quality Assurance is an ever-present concern in our company, where there is a team of experts who set quality guidelines and make sure that they are followed. This allows us to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction as well as a significant degree of code maintainability. So far, these experts have been performing their tasks using manual sheets which are not connected to the GUI.
We believe that this tool will not only help the experts enhance their quality assurance tasks, but also assist developers to always keep quality assurance in mind and have documentation available that explains how to perform each control and when to apply it.
In our opinion, this tool will be very useful for the Community due to its simplicity and ease of use.
- What motivated you to participate in the second edition of Collaborative Projects 2.0?
For more than 15 years, Ingeniería & Software has been working with GeneXus and using it almost exclusively as software development tool.
For us, developing tools for developers is a challenge and this was one of the main reasons that motivated us to participate.
In addition, we think that the products developed by us have to be completely migrated to the Web, and we want to generate knowledge that enables us to have user controls, patterns and tools integrated into the GUI.All this has the final objective of enhancing the quality of our products and reducing the development and testing times.
Another important reason is the need to strengthen our relationship with the GeneXus Community and with Artech.
-What are the challenges to overcome in your project?
The first challenge is the technology barrier. After so many years developing with GeneXus we're not familiar with other development tools andthis involves formal and informal training.
Working with other developers is another challenge. We don’t have previous experiences in this area and we think that the addition of new members to the team will allow us to empower our skills.
-What are your expectations in relation to CP 2.0?
Our main goal is to tell the GeneXus Community that we exist and that we are willing to work collaboratively.
We hope to gain visibility in the GeneXus Community, expand our horizons and showcase our products and services.
And...we wouldn’t mind winning an award!
