Bacosoft: wine vault software for the Argentine market

Bacosoft has incorporated new features and partnered with Sistemas Bejerman, by integrating with Sistemas Bejerman's ERP E-Flexware, to enter the Argentine market.

Bacosoft is a family of software products specialized in food production traceability, developed by Uruguay's IMS Consultores using GeneXus. It is used by the Bacardi-Martini group in Brazil, by the Spanish Gonzalez Byass wine vault and Uruguay's Establecimientos Juanicó, among other companies.

IMS Consultores developed new modules for Bacosoft and signed a contract with Sistemas Bejerman, one of the major software producers and marketers in Argentina, to incorporate Bacosoft into its product line. This agreement implies customization to the Argentine market and integration with Bejerman's ERP E-Flexware.

The newly released Bacosoft version that will be integrated to Bejerman's ERP incorporates cost management, which encompasses costs from the vineyard to the finished wine. In addition, raw-material and supplies administration has been added to stock management.

According to José Serrentino, IMS Consultores' director, this project will show the power of GeneXus applications in industry sectors where they are still unknown and it will re-position the Bacosoft product family in other regional and international markets.

This software originated from vineyard management, vintage control and tracking of wine-making stages including bottling. Since then, it has expanded its capabilities and gained more power in successive implementations in Uruguay, Spain and Brazil. Nowadays, this software has been installed in more than 40 wine-making establishments throughout Europe and South America, and has received international awards as an innovative technological tool for quality management.

Bacosoft is made up of more than 1,300 GeneXus objects and doesn't look like a traditional database application based on grids. Actually, it is presented to users through a graphic interface or "map" of the wine vault from where operations are accessed and performed through a visual context.

Bacosoft originated in 1997 from a development for Uruguay's Establecimiento Juanicó. Since 1999 it has been adapted in different ways to the Spanish market. In the last few years, it has entered the Brazilian market through its installation in the wine vaults of Brazil's Bacardi-Martini group.
