#GX24 Gustavo Carriquiry reveals some details about the GeneXus Meeting

GeneXus has been preparing the next International Meeting –also known as GX24- for some time now. This time, the free of charge event will be taking place from September 29th through October 1st at the Radisson Montevideo hotel. GeneXus´ Operations Manager Gustavo Carriquiry tells us a Little more about the event´s upcoming edition.

What is the overall keynote of the GX24 Meeting?
The Meeting´s new edition revolves around a message: “Recipes for Successful Development”. Based on this, we decided to work on a schedule to include conferences and activities that will imply a significant input in relation to cumulated experience. This means that presentations will share how particular individuals or companies have implemented developments, enterprises or business deals, or how specific technology was applied, with that results and the challenges encountered along the way, with the solutions applied in each case.

We will also be offering conferences with the industry´s main players and with our R&D team, who will be sharing the technology on which they are currently working, which will keep them occupied for the medium and short term as well.

Which will be the central topics?
Technology will be the guiding theme throughout the Meeting. Due to the event´s  dynamics, there will be 30-minute conferences taking place simultaneously in different rooms, in addition to workshops and interactive sessions, so we will have the possibility of covering technical topics as well as issues relative to management, business, entrepreneurship, and others.

Concerning technology, the topics will deal with the development of applications, both web and for mobile and smart devices, in addition to application integration, modernization and migration, productivity tools, etc. There will also be experiences shared relative to specific themes like BigData, image recognition, Cloud, Interface Design and User Experience (UI and UX). And we will also be going into detail of subjects such as Security, Testing, and different disciplines and specializations in the industry.

In what regards Management, we will hold conferences to share experiences with Agile Methodologies and PMI, among others, as well as leadership challenges and team work.

We will also have conferences with a profile more related to commercial and entrepreneurial aspects, which represent very significant factors in our industry for advancing with innovation and defining businesses.

As usual, we will also have industry leaders sharing their views on the field´s current and future state.

What industries are included?
Technology in general, and more specifically Information Technology (IT), is a cross-cutting aspect in all industries and businesses, so the projects we will be sharing originate in a variety of industries that range from Health Care to Finance, including Retail, Government, and others.

Attendants will benefit from taking part in activities relative to specific technology or disciplines of their interest, or they may choose to attend conferences sharing knowledge on the application of technology in their particular industries or the ones they may be interested in.

How are conference dynamics organized?
Conferences will be 30-minutes long, and just like in previous editions of our Meetings, we will be offering workshops (hands-on labs) on application development for web and for mobile and smart devices, among other things.

There will also be interactive sessions to enable contact with professionals from the industry with whom to share opinions, based on their special knowledge of different technology.

Additionally, this year we have implemented activities relative to the development of applications for smart devices. The plan is for participants in the Meeting to bring in their ideas, their applications or their concerns about applying this technology to their environment/industry and be received by specialists who will be aiding them as to how to develop those ideas, improve their applications or even provide them with a quick “brainstorming” referred to possible applications to be developed for those environments/industries.

What are the expected profiles and level of knowledge of attendants?
Profiles will be mostly varied, with some in search for business opportunities and networking and others aspiring to enhance their technical capabilities, or even learn, first-hand, about new technology. And there are also others who want to improve their skills regarding Project management, work teams and so on.

There is a wide range of topics to be dealt with and I would dare say that there will be contents for all possible profiles related to IT aspects, from students of this field of knowledge to CEOs, and also project leaders and individuals in charge of security issues.

Regarding level of knowledge, there will be activities dealing with topics in depth for those with previous knowledge on the subject who would like to develop further skills, and also other activities for beginners in relation to different products, technology and disciplines.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Yes, I must say that all those willing to attend are welcome to register at genexus.com/meeting/  We expect to see you all!
